About This Site
About David
DavidNTech (published under the name MOTIVATION) is written and run by me, David. It's a small, independent site — not a company, not a staff of editors, just one person writing essays and building tools around a single question: how do you keep showing up on the days you don't feel like it?
Why this site exists
I started building DavidNTech about two years ago, initially as a personal system to keep myself consistent — a place to write down the standards I was trying to hold myself to, and later a place to build small tools (a daily ritual tracker, a library of principles) that made those standards easier to actually keep. Writing the essays came second, as a way to think through the ideas properly instead of just collecting them as one-line notes.
What the site is built around is simple: motivation is unreliable, and most advice that leans on it doesn't survive contact with a bad week. The essays here are about the alternative — systems, standards, and habits that hold up regardless of how you feel on a given day. I write about discipline, focus, resilience, and the mental models I've found useful, aimed at people trying to build something — a career, a habit, a body of work — one ordinary day at a time.
What I actually do here
Three things, concretely:
- Essays. Long-form pieces on discipline, focus, resilience, and related mental models — see the full list in the library or under Essays on the homepage. Every essay is written by me, published under my own name, and updated when I revise it.
- The Standards Library. A curated, filterable set of short principles organized by theme, meant as a quick-reference companion to the longer essays.
- The Daily Ritual tool. A small browser-based habit and streak tracker. It stores your check-ins locally in your own browser — I don't collect or see that data.
Who I am, plainly
I'm not a large media company or an editorial team — despite the wording that used to be on this page, DavidNTech is one person. I've spent the last two years writing and building this site part-time, driven mostly by wanting a place to work out these ideas honestly and to help other people build the same kind of consistency I was trying to build in myself. I'm not a doctor, a licensed therapist, or a financial advisor, and nothing here should be read as professional advice in those areas — it's personal writing about discipline, habits, and mindset, offered for what it's worth.
How the site makes decisions
I don't accept paid placements or write essays to promote a product. The site carries display advertising to help cover hosting and the time spent writing, but ad placement never determines what I write about or what I recommend. If I ever get something wrong — a fact, a citation, a broken link — I'd genuinely like to know. See the contact page for how to reach me.
"Discipline is the quiet agreement you keep with yourself." — the line this whole site is built around.
